Spaghetti Bolognese
Apparently I got some tomato sauce leftover from my homemade pizza earlier, so I made this Spaghetti Bolognese. Yum!!
Homemade pizza
I used to not understand why people having all the fuss to make a pizza at home.
But as a matter of kill time, which is my everyday routine now, I made this pizza last Friday.
I used Delia's recipe to make the pizza dough.
I used the technique I learned from cooking school to make the tomato sauce.
Added pepperoni and mozzarella cheese, cherry tomatoes, and some jalapenos peppers because I like everything hot, the pizza was surprisingly tasty, it's worth all the effort!!!

Japanese cheese cake
OMG!!! this is the most tastiest cake I have ever made!!! again it is my first time. Recipe from here, but I added 1 tsp of cornflour too. The good thing about this recipe is she didn't use a lot of sugar and cheese as compare to others' recipes, which is the healthier way that I like!!
The cake was really wonderful. See the texture!!! It looks and tastes exactly like those bought ones from Hong Kong!!!

Roman lettuce
Garden peas
Parsley

As u can see, I did it successfully and it tastes so good. Next time I will add a bit of cheese then they will be just like the ones selling in Sogo bakery shop in Hong Kong. I love their cheese bread very very much!!!

Was at friend's house last week, and they have ordered this dish "螞蟻上樹" from a Chinese take away. Well it is not the typical Chinese take away for western people, it is a very authentic Chinese take away specialize in Northern Chinese dishes (at least to a HK people like me I see it this way). I have seen this "螞蟻上樹" before on menus but I never ordered it coz I absolutely don't know what it is. In English translation, the name will become "Ants on the tree" . What a funny name!!! Well my husband explained to me that mince are the "ants" and the vermicelli are the "trees"!!!!! Basically it is stir fried vermicelli with mince and chillies bean sauce. I love it very much. I love everything with vermicelli!!! OK with a bit of research from the Internet, I followed this recipe and made this at home last nite. yum!!!

Stir fried scallops with celery
The scallops are bought from billingsgate fish market this morning, £6 for 12, though they are not very large, but they are pretty fresh and sweet as usual. I fried them with lots of shallots, coz I ran out of garlic haha. Anyway it tastes really good. I didn't add in a lot of seasonings, just a little salt and sugar, we want the original seafood flavor!!!

Sweet potato balls
When I was in Hong Kong I loved to eat Japanese potato croquettes They have many different versions, curry & potatoes and pumpkin are my fav.
I want to make them here but I don't like to do deep fried cooking at home. I just hate the mess, oil sticks to every where and the smell which never goes away.
I watched Rachel Allen the other day on TV, she coated chicken pieces with egg, flour and breadcrumbs, and baked them in the oven with a drizzle of oil on the baking tray. She created the same crispy taste but without all the oil and the fuss.
So I tried that using sweet potatoes and made them as sweet potato balls. It was very easy, just prepare the sweet potato mash, form them into ball shape, coated with flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. Add a bit of oil into the baking tray, place the balls in, then bake for 30 mins!!! yum!!!
I know they look very ugly, but the technique does work!!! It makes a crispy coating without doing deep fried!!! So I will do it again, in a nicer and small shape!!! :-)

Cold noodles and shredded chicken with sesame dressing /
I made this to Mr Chen coz I thought he must like this northern Chinese dish, but he DIDN'T!!!
He said how come the noodles are cold :-S
Anyway, I love it a lot. I shredded the chicken by hand, actually half of a chicken is used, marinated them with salt, and some sesame oil when they are still warm. Then I prepared the noodles. Coz I was too lazy to drive all the way to Chinese supermarket so I bought a pack of dried udon from Waitrose. Again, I don't think they are real udon but just I guess their quality shouldn't be bad so I use them as cold noodles. With sesame dressing, and some cumbers, it is a very nice starter cold dish. Except I realized I prepared too much ingredients and it ended up the portion is far too big for two people even as main course :-S
